چکیده

Waltz is a typical example of physical human-human interaction (pHHI) in a well-structured environment, which makes waltz a good start point for understanding pHHI and physical human-robot interaction (pHRI). Waltz involves two dancers. Understanding of the female dancer’s abilities in dancing may help designing robots that can physically interact with human in intuitive ways. Therefore, our goal is to reproduce the female dancer’s abilities with a robot in pHRI. We focus on the lower level interaction in pHRI, i.e., coupled dynamics. We propose a framework which covers modeling, analysis,

Final Report for AOARD Grant #FA2386-12-1-4022

The aim of AOARD project #FA2386-12-1-4022 (“Formal System Verification Extension 2”, running from 9 February 2012 to 8 August 2012) is to provide an initial framework prototype for efficiently performing formal proofs of targeted security or safety properties about large, complex software systems. The framework is meant to be generic in terms of the targeted property for the system and to mini...

Cynthia Breazeal Regulation and Entrainment in Human - Robot Interaction

Newly emerging robotics applications for domestic or entertainment purposes are slowly introducing autonomous robots into society at large. A critical capability of such robots is their ability to interact with humans, and in particular, untrained users. In this paper we explore the hypothesis that people will intuitively interact with robots in a natural social manner provided the robot can pe...

Final Report for AOARD Grant FA2386-13-1-4043 “Non-Metric Similarity Measures”

All three project aims have been achieved by the end of the project period, i.e., create two non-metric similarity measures and three relative mass measures, elicit the relative functions of unary measures and binary measures, and evaluate the new measures in four data mining tasks—two additional to the two tasks specified in the project proposal. The non-metric similarity measures were created...

An Experimental Study on Blinking and Eye Movement Detection via EEG Signals for Human-Robot Interaction Purposes Based on a Spherical 2-DOF Parallel Robot

Blinking and eye movement are one of the most important abilities that most people have, even people with spinal cord problem. By using this ability these people could handle some of their activities such as moving their wheelchair without the help of others. One of the most important fields in Human-Robot Interaction is the development of artificial limbs working with brain signals. The purpos...
